We had a blast staying in the campground here at Curry Hammock Park. It was the best ever rv trip and you get a nice beach right behind the camp site. The location is about seventy minutes up from Key West and just five minutes from Marathon. It is a super park that is open to the public each day. The shallow waters surrounding the park are neat to cruise over on a kayak. Take a dive trip out and pick between numerous Shipwrecks and Sombrero Reef Lighthouse. This park is best in an rv but Tent Camping is here for the adventure family. Marathon has lots of things to do and superb Snorkeling and scuba diving. Camping could not be better than with a birds-eye-view of the ocean.
I think most folks fly right on by this park when cruising south on the Overseas Highway. Pull in and take a break from the driving. The decent priced fee to get inside is worth it. A lot of people Walk the Shoreline in a foot of water.
The Florida circumnavigational saltwater paddling trail passes through the park. I love the Kayak Launch at Curry Park for good times. Two miles of the Overseas Heritage Trail pass through park. For daytime visitors, a restroom with a cold outdoor shower is located in the day-use area.
The park is an excellent place to observe wading birds and shore life. This is a great way to see, the real Florida. The water in the park is generally shallow and the bottom covered with seagrass. Swimming is available in designated areas.
wildlife viewing is excellent in the park. In the area where Pets are allowed they must be on a six foot leash and well behaved.
