As one of the better island for marine life viewing, we like to stop at different spots in the city on the waterfront. You are not half way to Key West yet, but it was time to have some fun and let everyone get out of the car. The watercraft options are plentiful, but the kayaks are the cheapest way to go. There are lots of fishing people on the docks and it is a hoot.
If you are planning a vacation to the Florida Keys, consider Robbie's For a Great Time on the Water. Islamorada is a great destination. You can still get a feel for the laid back attitude that has made Islamorada such a great escape.
Very cool place to stop and you will see all the cars lined up just off the highway as you pass the bridge before the entrance. After this, the next good area is all the way down in Marathon. So, Islamorada makes the good pit-stop location to break up the trip on the way down to Big Pine or Key West.
