You will be glad to fly along the Florida Keys as the experience is breathtaking. See a lot from the air, especially when you are landing. Find the Airport located approximately seventy-five miles southwest of the city of Miami and forty miles east of Key West. As you approach Marathon, Duck Key is the ten nautical mile visual check point and the Seven Mile Bridge is a five mile visual check point if coming from the southwest. Marathon general aviation offers all the basic travel services, plane facilities and amenities.
Extra special is anybody that gets to fly down and land on an island in the Florida Keys. It is just so beautiful to go up in the sky and look at everything from that vantage point. After college I got a job at a bank in Key West and they would fly me periodically to events out of town. That was my chance to fly and land on an island, what I super thing to do if you get the opportunity. They have a helicopter ride and a bi-plane ride that you can take running out of the Marathon island Airport.
