This is north Marathon, a very beautiful area for marine life viewing and the real Florida Keys nature, without boats buzzing by. The trail system is well marked here inside of Curry Hammock State Park and just excellent to do. The outdoor shower is great if you get too sweaty or dirty, and you do want to wear your swim trunks and Hit the Beach too. Great for those with little children. The park is quiet and the opposite of Disney Main Street.
We are going to be Kayaking around Boot Key Harbor for the first time next week. I think it will be great with all of the sailboats using the mooring field. We saw the area before and you can stop at the City Marina to see how huge Boot Key Harbor is. There are mangrove trails in there too.
You can also put your kayak in at the 33rd Street Boat Ramp. That is in the heart of Marathon. It is a boat ramp, but you can launch from the shore or an empty area of the ramp. It is not that busy Monday to Friday. I love to see the resorts from the bayside, after only seeing them when you are driving down US1. From the backside you can see which ones have Boat Ramps and fishing piers. Life is good on vacation in Marathon.
