Boating could not be much better than the area above the Seven Mile Bridge. We brought our boat down and dumped in at the marina, easy to find off 11th Street. Wet Slips are the best way to go and a lot of people stay seasonally.
Boot Key Harbor is where the big sailboat hotel parking lot is located, as this is a hugely popular area. The fuel docks are on the tip of the docks as you cruise into the waterway channel, open from 8am to 6pm.
While we stayed here for the week, I realized how large of a complex this is because it's also an RV resort and they do all kinds of boat maintenance. They hoist out those large boats and clean the bottoms and repaint them, plus there are lots of great restaurants in the area. If I only had a big RV travel trailer, this is where I'd want to stay.
We had so much fun and a lot of it was spent in the water. You can snorkel the Shoreline and have A really good Time. Make sure you stop and get one of those Huge Egg Omelets for breakfast and you will need the fuel for the big day of outdoor pleasures including the beach Volleyball Courts where we stopped and played twice. If you gonna break out the fishing pole make sure you know the Fishing rules for using Circle Hooks as it's a big deal down here now.
The spot for boaters, this is a state-of-the-art facility for boat dock-age. Use the full service marina for service, boat gas, and general supplies in the ship store. If you dock up for the evening, right next door is the Lazy Days South Waterfront Restaurant.
The best two local marinas are the Boot Key Harbor and Marathon Marinas. This is a sweet location next to the Big Pine Key Bridge means you are in the top fishing area. Just follow the harbor into Boot Key to get to the fuel docks.
